Alyssa

ALYSSA

Alyssa started her "career" at the ripe age of 2; completing her first parade!  She then entered her first competition at age 4 and never stopped!  Twenty-two years later all her hard work paid off, when she was crowned 2010 College Miss Majorette of America.

She says, "I have been so lucky to have been born into a twirling family: My mom Elaine Gangi Kane also a feature twirler at UConn, my Aunt and coach, Tracey Gangi Johnson, and godmother Diane Gangi George have been the back bone and passion behind my twirling career.  Twirling competitively my whole life, college was definitely a life changing event.  When I first stepped on to Rentchleur field, in front of 40,000 Husky Fans, as UConn's Feature Twirler, I knew this is why I had worked so hard my whole life! I hope to encourage all twirlers to finish their twirling career on the football field.  It is not only an honor but also such a gratifying experience to have thousands of fans cheering you on."

Alyssa has a background in ballet and played varsity field hockey in high school.  She is a former Twirling Ambassador to Peru and has twirled at 3 Bowl Games with the Husky Marching Band.  She was also a featured performer for the Kick-off Ceremonies for the AAU Junior Olympic Games and several Bay State Summer Games.  Alyssa has a Bachelor of Liberal Arts/Communications from the University of Connecticut and is working in public relations.
